Alok is the founder of Next Big Innovation Labs (NBIL), a deep-tech life sciences company and World
Economic Forum Technology Pioneer. NBIL specializes in 3D bioprinting, developing innovations such
as bio-printed corneal tissue, Organ-on-a-Chip, and lab-grown meat. Supported by investments from
the Government of Karnataka, India’s Department of Biotechnology, Lockheed Martin, TATA Trusts,
and Merck Group, NBIL aims to revolutionize tissue engineering and cell biology research with its
TRIVIMA bioprinting platform, developed in partnership with Microsoft to enhance AI-enabled
bioprinting.
NBIL’s vision is to eliminate animal testing in cosmetics and pharmaceuticals, and to develop
personalized bio-printed tissues and organs for clinical transplantation. Alok is an engineer with
expertise in emerging technologies and their application in healthcare, aerospace, and automotive
industries. They are committed to leveraging technology for social good, job creation, and
supporting the UN Sustainable Development Goals, particularly in innovation and climate action.
Alok is a member of the World Economic Forum’s Global Shapers and Expert Network Communities
and has been involved in initiatives like advancing the commercial bio-economy.
Educational background includes studies at Boston University, Cranfield University, and Stanford
University.
